Your 8-day Moroccan adventure begins after breakfast, departing from Marrakech. We’ll journey over the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains, unveiling breathtaking panoramic views. Explore the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site famed as a backdrop for films like Gladiator. After lunch nearby, we continue towards Ouarzazate, with an optional stop at its renowned film studios, before traversing the fragrant Rose Valley to reach Boumalne Dades for your overnight stay.
After breakfast, today’s journey takes us deeper towards the Sahara. We drive through captivating landscapes to the impressive Todra Gorges, where towering canyon walls rise dramatically. Enjoy a short walk to appreciate their scale before lunch. Continuing via Erfoud, the gateway to the desert, we arrive in Merzouga. Here, your camels await for an unforgettable trek across the stunning Erg Chebbi sand dunes to witness a breathtaking Saharan sunset. Settle into your desert camp for a magical night under a canopy of stars, complete with traditional Berber music.
Wake early to catch a magnificent desert sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. We then depart Merzouga, traveling past the vast palm groves of the Ziz Valley oasis, pausing for photos at a panoramic viewpoint. Our route continues to Midelt, known for its apple orchards, where we’ll stop for lunch. Afterwards, we drive through scenic cedar forests near Azrou, home to Barbary macaques, and pass through Ifrane, “Morocco’s Little Switzerland,” before arriving in the imperial city of Fes for your overnight stay in a traditional riad.
Following breakfast in Fes, our journey heads north towards the enchanting ‘Blue Pearl’ of Chefchaouen. We’ll drive through the picturesque Rif Mountains, enjoying beautiful landscapes and passing traditional mountain villages. Upon arrival in Chefchaouen in the afternoon, check into your riad. The remainder of the day is yours to get lost in its uniquely blue-washed, easily walkable medina at your own pace.
Enjoy breakfast before departing Chefchaouen. Today, we drive towards Tangier, traversing more of the Rif Mountains. Our first key stop is Tetouan, the ‘White Dove,’ recognized for its Hispano-Moorish architecture and UNESCO-listed medina. Afterwards, we continue to Tangier, a historically strategic port city on the Strait of Gibraltar. Arriving in the afternoon, check into your hotel and enjoy some free time to begin exploring this gateway between Africa and Europe.
After breakfast, we depart Tangier and take a scenic Atlantic coastal road south to the charming seaside town of Asilah. Known for its well-preserved, white-washed medina adorned with vibrant murals and its annual arts festival, Asilah is a delightful cultural hub. Explore its ramparts and artistic streets before checking into your hotel/riad. Enjoy free time in the afternoon, perhaps for a pleasant evening stroll.
Following breakfast, we continue our journey south along the Atlantic coast towards Rabat, the capital of Morocco. The drive offers lovely coastal views. Upon arrival in Rabat, we’ll embark on a guided visit of its key landmarks, including the iconic Hassan Tower, the impressive minaret of an unfinished mosque, and the nearby Mausoleum of Mohammed V, showcasing the city’s rich Islamic and French-colonial heritage. Afterwards, check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
On our final morning, we drive from Rabat along the coast to Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city and economic heart. The highlight is a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the world’s largest, dramatically situated overlooking the Atlantic (exterior visit, interior subject to timing/fees). Admire its intricate architecture and grand scale. Following this, our 8-day tour concludes. We will transfer you to your designated hotel in Casablanca or to the airport for your onward journey.
