Your 4-day Moroccan adventure begins after breakfast, departing from Marrakech. First, we’ll journey over the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains, unveiling breathtaking panoramic views. Our primary stop today is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This is a stunning example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture and a famed backdrop for many international films. Afterwards, we continue towards Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco,” perhaps with a brief look at its film studios. Finally, our route takes us into the Dades Valley, renowned for its dramatic rock formations and verdant oases. You’ll spend the night here, surrounded by its unique natural beauty.
After breakfast, we’ll journey from the Dades Valley towards the mighty Sahara. Our first key stop will be the impressive Todra Gorges, where towering canyon walls create a magnificent natural spectacle. You’ll have time for a short walk to fully appreciate their scale. Next, we continue via Erfoud, a town known for its fossils, as we make our way to Merzouga. Upon arrival at the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes, your camels await. Embark on an unforgettable trek across the golden sands to witness a spectacular Saharan sunset. Later, you’ll settle into your luxurious desert camp for a magical night under a canopy of stars, complete with a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Begin your day with an early rise to witness a glorious sunrise over the dunes—a truly unforgettable moment. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll embark on a 4×4 adventure to explore the diverse landscapes of the Merzouga region.
Your exploration includes a visit with a nomadic Berber family, where you’ll gain insight into their resilient lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. We will discover the deserted mining village of Mefis, listen to the soulful rhythms of Gnawa music in Khamlia village, and stop by the seasonal Lake of Birds, a temporary haven for local wildlife.
After lunch, you will check into your Riad to relax and enjoy some free time. You can take a refreshing swim or a quiet stroll to the nearby dunes. In the evening, dinner will be served at the Riad.
(Choice of Lodging: You have the flexibility to spend this second night at your comfortable Riad or choose to return to the luxury desert camp for another magical night under the stars.)
After breakfast at your Riad, we begin our journey north towards Fes. The route takes us through the Ziz Valley, where we’ll stop to admire a stunning panoramic view of its vast palm groves.
Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, we will pause for lunch in Midelt. As we travel through the ancient cedar forests, keep an eye out for the native Barbary apes. Our final stop will be in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” for a short break.
