Your adventure begins as we depart from Fes, heading south towards the Sahara. Our first stop is Ifrane, Morocco’s “Little Switzerland,” known for its alpine chalets. We’ll then enter the ancient cedar forests of Azrou, home to playful Barbary macaques. After crossing the stunning Middle Atlas Mountains and a lunch stop in Midelt, the landscape transforms as we descend into the lush Ziz Valley. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll be greeted with traditional mint tea before settling into your hotel or riad for the night.
After breakfast, discover the soul of the Sahara. We’ll visit Khamlia village to experience the powerful, spiritual rhythms of Gnawa music. Next, we’ll journey to the historic Miffis mines before venturing into the desert to share mint tea with a nomadic family, learning about their resilient way of life. In the afternoon, your iconic camel trek begins. You’ll ride into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness an unforgettable sunset from a high dune. Your day culminates at a traditional Berber desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and sleep under a spectacular canopy of stars.
An early start is rewarded with a magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast and a camel ride back to the village, our journey continues towards the Dades Valley. We’ll stop at the magnificent Todra Gorge, a colossal canyon with towering rock walls perfect for a short hike or a relaxing walk along the river. After lunch, we’ll travel through the picturesque Dades Valley, famous for its winding roads and dramatic rock formations, before settling into your hotel nestled in the gorge.
After breakfast, we begin our scenic journey back to Fez. The route takes us through the lush palm groves of the Ziz Valley and across the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains, with a stop for lunch in Midelt. We will pass through the cedar forests to see the Barbary macaques one last time and enjoy a final coffee break in the charming town of Ifrane. We arrive back in Fez in the late afternoon, where your unforgettable 4-day desert adventure concludes.
